Telescope
Myths and Legends:
"Large
scopes are more adversely affected by seeing than small ones."
"Large telescopes are more impaired by light pollution than small ones."
"Short-focus Newtonians require much larger secondary mirrors than long-focus
models."
"Pyrex telescope mirrors are better than those made from plate glass."
and there are many others, such a long f/ratio telescopes make better
"planetary" telescopes than shorter f/ratio telescopes. This ignores the fact
that resolution depends on 2 things and 2 things alone - aperture and optical
quality (which includes central obstruction). If you have those 2 things you
have a telescope that performs well on both planets and deep sky objects. This
is why quality, both optical and mechanical, is so important to us at SDM.
